Egypt’s Grand Mufti Welcomes High-Level Indonesian Delegation to Foster Cooperation in Fatwa and Scholarly Training

Dr. Nazir Mohammed Ayyad, Egypt’s Grand Mufti and President of the General Secretariat for Fatwa Authorities Worldwide, received a high-level Indonesian delegation led by Dr. Adi Hidayat. The meeting was held at Dar Al-Ifta’s premises, was attended by Dr. Muhammad Al-Mahrasawi, President of Al-Azhar Global Academy for Training. 

During the discussion, both sides reaffirmed the Egyptian-Indonesian strong historical ties, particularly in religious and fatwa-related matters. The Indonesian delegation expressed deep appreciation for Al-Azhar and Dar Al-Ifta’s efforts in promoting moderate teachings of Islam. Key topics included cooperation in combating extremist ideologies through authorized fatwas and supporting Indonesia’s food security initiatives with relevant religious guidance. 

The Grand Mufti emphasized Dar Al-Ifta’s readiness to collaborate through training programs, fatwa issuance, and online education, proposing an official memorandum to formalize these efforts. He also highlighted the role of the General Secretariat for Fatwa Authorities Worldwide in unifying global fatwa efforts. 

At the conclusion of the meeting, the Indonesian delegation presented an honorary shield to the Grand Mufti in recognition of his contributions to promoting enlightened fatwas and addressing contemporary intellectual challenges.
