"Intra-Islamic Dialogue" Conference Concludes with Key Recommendations to Strengthen Unity and Coexistence

The "Intra-Islamic Dialogue: One Nation, Shared Destiny" conference concluded in the Kingdom of Bahrain. The conference was held on February 19–20, under the patronage of King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and brought together over 400 prominent figures from around the world, including His Eminence Grand Imam Dr. Ahmed Al-Tayeb, Sheikh of Al-Azhar, and His Eminence Dr. Nazir Mohammed Ayyad, the Grand Mufti of Egypt.
The final statement emphasized the imperative of uniting the Muslim ummah and fostering collaboration among religious authorities to counter hate speech. It also called for constructive intra-Muslim dialogue, free from doctrinal disputes, and underscored the importance of supporting the Palestinian cause, combating poverty and extremism, and launching a scientific initiative to identify shared principles among Muslims.
The conference further advocated for empowering women in efforts to consolidate unity and recommended the establishment of specialized committees for dialogue among Muslim youth. It also proposed the formation of the "Islamic Dialogue League"* and the launch of "Ahl Al-Qibla Call" to unify religious discourse.
As part of his participation, the Grand Mufti of Egypt engaged in multiple meetings to enhance religious cooperation. He met with Dr. Hassan Mohyuddin Al-Qadri, President of the Supreme Council for the International Minhaj-ul-Quran, to discuss collaboration in fatwa-related affairs, training, and family counseling, as well as addressing contemporary ideological challenges, including atheism. Dr. Al-Qadri also presented the Grand Mufti with a collection of scholarly publications.
The Grand Mufti held talks with His Eminence Sheikh Abdulrahman bin Mohammed Al Khalifa, Chairman of the Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs in Bahrain, focusing on leveraging the conference’s outcomes to promote moderation, dialogue, and peaceful coexistence. They also explored the possibility of signing a memorandum of cooperation, exchanging academic publications, and participating in future conferences.
Further strengthening ties, the Grand Mufti met with a delegation of scholars from the Kurdistan region of Iraq to discuss collaboration in fatwa training, countering extremism and atheism, and enhancing family guidance services. The discussions also addressed potential membership in the General Secretariat for Fatwa Authorities and participation in its scholarly events. In a separate meeting with Bahrain’s Minister of Justice, he examined ways to advance fatwa services, train marriage registrars, and foster academic cooperation through the exchange of scholarly works and joint participation in research initiatives.
