Grand Imam of Al-Azhar Meets King Hamad bin Isa in the Presence of Egypt’s Mufti and the Secretary-General of the Muslim Council of Elders

His Eminence, the Grand Imam of Al-Azhar, Professor Dr. Ahmed Al-Tayeb, met with His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, King of Bahrain, on the sidelines of the Intra-Islamic Dialogue Conference. The meeting was attended by Egypt’s Grand Mufti, Dr. Nazir Mohammed Ayad, and Counselor Mohamed Abdel Salam, Secretary-General of the Muslim Council of Elders. The discussions took place in an atmosphere of warmth, mutual respect, and appreciation.

The meeting underscored the importance of strengthening cooperation between major Islamic religious institutions to address contemporary challenges and fulfill the aspirations of the Muslim Ummah. The leaders highlighted the pivotal role of Al-Azhar and Egypt’s Dar Al-Ifta in promoting moderate thought, combating extremism, and fostering a culture of dialogue and peaceful coexistence among nations.

Additionally, they agreed to hold the second edition of the conference next year in Cairo, under the auspices of Al-Azhar, as part of ongoing efforts to enhance Islamic dialogue and unify perspectives on critical issues facing the Muslim world.

Egypt’s Grand Mufti expressed his deep gratitude for the warm reception and generous hospitality, commending the exemplary organization of the event, which reflects a strong commitment to advancing joint efforts in service of the Ummah. He emphasized that such meetings are a significant step toward achieving intellectual and religious synergy among Islamic leaders, strengthening cooperation between religious institutions, and reinforcing efforts to promote moderation, tolerance, and peaceful coexistence within Muslim societies and beyond.
