The Observatory for monitoring takfiri fatwas and extremist ideologies at Egypt’s Dar al-Ifta praised the European Parliament’s approval of setting an annual international day to commemorate the victims of terrorist groups like Daesh and Qaeda worldwide.

“The European Parliament approved a resolution proposed by the Iraq embassy at the EU to set an international day to commemorate the victims of Daesh and Qaeda,” the spokesperson of the Iraqi Foreign Ministry, Ahmed Mahjoub said.

In a news statement issued on Tuesday, the observatory said that the European Parliament’s decision reflects its vision and endeavors to combat terror threats and achieve stability and security at all levels.

The observatory called for intensifying international and regional efforts to combat terrorist organizations and eradicate radicalization’s waves through draining the sources that finance and support such groups.
